New Year’s Resolution: Backup Mobile Data!

Q: What are fiCloud Mobile Backups?

A: An extra level of protection to make sure you never lose a hard day’s work.

When we decided to build our mobile backup solution, we fist examined the competition. Here’s why our backups are better than theirs:

1. Mozy: The main reason we ruled Mozy out was because when you need to restore your backup, Mozy limits your bandwidth after a period of time. One of our key criteria is speedy recovery when you need it most. Restoring from Mozy ends up feeling like filing up a tanker truck with a garden hose.

2. DropBox: DropBox is very simple and good for home users who are saving noncritical files. But for business, DropBox lacks any type of reporting to confirm backups are actually taking place. It would be impossible to keep track of multiple users and make sure people are getting all their stuff backed up.

3. Carbonite: Similar to Mozy, Carbonite pinches bandwidth, but they do it while uploading your backup. We also found a number of reports stating that users had difficulty downloading back-ups. Too many red flags to consider using for our clients.

For fiCloud Mobile backups, we developed a system in conjunction with SOS Backup that we have found to be thorough, complete, fast, and the best back-up system we tested. With our fiCloud Mobile back-up solution, we can monitor, confirm, and test back-ups to keep your data safe–without you having to worry about it.

Q: Who are fiCloud Mobile Back-ups right for?

A: Laptop users who work from outside the office frequently.

How long do you go between stops into the office? A day working from home? A week on a business trip? If you can’t afford to lose a day or a week’s worth of work, you should have fiCloud Mobile Backups. If you spend more than 50% of your time away from your desk, you can’t afford not to have them.

Traveling not only means you aren’t connected to the back-up server every night, it means more damaging wear and tear on your hard drive. Things like cold weather, physical jarring, and heat all can cause hard drives to fail much sooner than expected. All hard drives fail eventually, with the average life span being 3-5 years. We have seen road warrior’s hard drives go down within the first year.
